Answer:

Dear Sir, Hare Krishna. No, unfortunatly we don't have the wonderful prayer to Sri Radhe in devanagari alphabet. But as soon as we'll have it you'll find it in www.vrindavana.net Actually it is not very difficult to have the devanagari starting from the diactitic scripts. It's just take some time we dont' have right now. We are working hard to build up this website entirely dedicated to Sri Vrindavana-dham If you have anything that can be published and want to send it to us will be appreciated. The Monsoon of Lord Krsna's Opulence

by Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana

A Glimpse into the Life of Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana

Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana was born in the early part of the 18th century in a village near the city of Remuna. Even though he was born the son a vaisya farmer, in his youth he still received a very thorough education in Sanskrit, rhetoric, logic and scripture. In his youth he accepted sannyasa in the Madhva-sampradaya, and, staying in Jagannatha Puri, he quickly became prominent in intellectual circles. HIs study of Srila Jiva Goswami's Sandarbhas made him a follower of Sri Caitanay mahaprabhu. He visited Navadvipa and spent the remaining part of his life in Vrndavana, studying Srimad-Bhagavatam and other Vaisnava scriptures under the guidance of his spiritual master, Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti. At this time, by the order of Visvanatha Cakravarti, and by the mercy of the Deity of Sri Govinda, the famous Govinda-bhasya commentary on Vedanta-sutra was written to answer criticism that the followers of Sri Caitanya were not genuine followers of the Vedas because they had neglected to comment on the Vedanta.

The most important works of Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana are: 1. Govinda-bhasya, 2. Siddhanta-ratna, 3. Vedanta-syamantaka, 4. Prameya-ratnavali, 5. Siddhanta-darpana, 6. Aisvarya-kadambini, 7. Sahitya-kaumudi, 8. Chandah-kaustubha, 9. Kavya-kau-stubha, 10. Bhagavad-gita-bhasya, 11. Vaisnav-anandini tika (commentary on Srimad-Bhagavatam), as well as commenatries on 12. Tattva sandarbha, 13. Stava-mala, 14. Gopala-tapani Upanisad, 15. Visnu-sahasra-nam, 156. Laghu-bhagavatamrta, 17. Nataka-candrika, and 18. Syamanada-sataka.

Because he was afraid of Kamsa, Vasudeva quickly carried his unlimitedly powerful son to the home of his brother, the king of Vraja.

Text 6

Vasudeva placed his own son in Nanda's home, took Yasoda's daughter, and gave her to King Kamsa. By Lord Krsna's inconceivable potency the two Krsnas born separately from Devaki and Yasoda became one tiny child.

Note: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada mentions this pastime in the following words (Srimad Bhagavatam 10.3.47 Purport): "Srila Visvanath Cakravati discusses that Krsna appeared simultaneously as the son of Devaki and the son of Yasoda, along with the spiritual energy Yogamaya. As the son of Devaki, He first appeared as Visnu, and becasue Vasudeva was not in the positionof pure affection for Krsna, Vasudeva wi\orshipped his osn as Lord Visnu. Yasoda, however, pleased herso n Krsna without understanding is Godhood. This is the differnce between Krsna as the son of Yasoda and as the son of Devaki. This is explained by Visvanath Cakravati on the authority of Hari-vamsa."

Srila Rupa Goswami also discusses this pastime in these words(Laghu-Bhagavatamrta 1.5.454-456):

"In ancient times ome devotees have said that the Lord appeared in Hid Vasudeva feature in the home Maharaja Vasudeva, and at the same time appeared in His original form of Krsna in the village of Vraja. In this way these devotees have said tha Sri Krsna and Yogamaya were the twin children of Yasoda in Vrajabhumi."

Text 7

From his associates, the king of Vraja learned aboutt he birth of his son, who was in truth the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Overcome with joy, the king dressed in costly garments and ornaments and had the best of brahmanas perform the birth ceremony according to the rules of the Sruti-sastra.

Text 18

Filled with transcendental glory and opulence, Govindfa and theother boys filled with happiness the homes of the fortunate cowherd men headed by Maharaja Nanda in Vrajabhumi.

Text 19

Even though Lord Krsna, the son of Maharaja Nanda, is the Supreme Personlaity of Godhead, the ultimate goal of all living entities, He still considers that the supreme goal of His life is Sri Radha, who has fathomless beauty and numberless transcendetal qualities, an who appeared in the holy abode of Vraja as the daughter of Kirtida-devi.

Text 20

At the time of teh festival of Sri radha's birth, even the prayers of the great demigods left the world unsatisfied. When the women of Vraja saw the auspiiocus marks on Her lotus feet they all became convinced that this girl was the goddess of fortune.

Text 21

Whenpoets attempt to describe Sri Radha they became filled with awe and they loudly rebuke the moon, the lotus, and other beautfil things of this world. By constantly meditating on Sri Radha and by repeatedly offering obeisances to Her, these poets attain intense happiness within their hearts.

Text 22

Every kind of transcendental glory and opulence is manifest from Sri radha's sidelong glance. Even Lord Krsna, the Supreme Pesonality of Godhead is not able to edscribe them all.

Text 23

Sri radha's friends, who expertly serve Her, and whose beauty, virtue, and transcendental qualities resmeble Hers, then appeared in the capitol of the king of Vraja in the homes of the best of the cowherds.

Text 6

When great sages yearned for some of th dust where child Krsna was playing, on the pretext of giving them a handful of dust, the generous Lord gave them the sweetest nectar.

Text 22

Seeing Brahma offering prayers, Siva expressing his devotion, and Indra and all the demigods acting as servants of Nanda's son, Krsna, the cowherd people understood that Kamsa's demoniac allies were as insignificant as so many pieces of strw.

Then Sri Radhika and the other girls, who were all very dear to Lord Krsna, the son of Nanda, ascended their chariots and palanquins. Singing many songs, and gently fanned by maidservants holding camara and other fans, the beautiful-eyebrowed girls left the palace courtyard.

Text 40

A band of conchshells, kettledrums, and wind intrumnets played auspiciouc music during Princess Radhika's journey. A band of heroic soldiers, armed with golden clubs, swords, bows, and arrows, guarded the travelling party on the front and sides.

Text 41

A fragrant breeze gently blew, a greta cloud became like a parasol to shade the travelling party, and the demigoddesses in the celestial planets sang, danced, recited prayers, and played mrdangas and other musical instruments.

Text 42

Seeing the sprawling city of Nandagrama, which was encircled by walls and a moat and which appeared to them to be like a coiled-up serpent, a sublimely complicated argument offered by the grammarian Patanjali, or a celestial vine that fulfils all desires, the girls happily spoke many prayers glorifiying Lord Krsna.

Text 43

The girls descended from their palnquins and chariots, rewarded the palanquin bearers and chariot drivers, bowed down to offer respects to the queen of Gokula, and accepted from her a gift of excellent betelnuts.

Text 44

Then the lotus-eyed girls, whose tinkling anklets charm the hearts of their husbands, returned to their own homes, bathed, and performed thei household duties to please their husbands.

Text 45

As He herdrd the surbhai cows, Maharaja's glorious and handsome son, who has the heart of a rake, trembled with passionate love fort hedoe-eyed gopis.

Text 46

Receivnig the prayers and worship of Varuna, the controller of the waters, and bringng his fther, who had been kidnapped by Varuna, to his own home again, and in this way pleasing the people of Vrajabhumi, the all-powerful Supreme Lord appeared very splenddi and glorious.

Text 47

when Krsna saw the beauty of moonlit Vrndavana forest He hebgan to play His flute. He was quickly decorated by the splendid gopis who rushed to meet Him there.

Text 48

Singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments, the beautiful gopis affectionately worshipped Krsna. Tehse pastimes confirm the scriptures's statement that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is full of unlimited transcendental pleasure.

Text 49

How can even Sarasvati-devi, the goddess of eloquent speech, attain the power to describe the transcenedntal happiness created in the arena of the rasa dance by the wonderful sounds of the flutes, lutes, drums, ankle-bells, glistening belts and many ornamnets, by the sounds of tatathai from the hand cymbals, by the wonderful singing and dancing, by the graceful hand gestures, and by the splendid jewels that were the beautiful slender forms of the gopis?

Text 50

All-powerul Lord Krsna rescued Vidyadhara Sudarsana from the life of a serpent and transformed him to a demigod. The Lord also personally killed Sankhacuda and took his Symanataka jewel.

Text 51

Overcome with feelings of separation, for along time the lotus-eyed girls of Vraja sang the glories of Lord Krsna, the ancient Supreme Personlaity of Godhead, who was the brother of the dark monsoon clouds and who had then disappeared into the forest. At that time throughout the entire world the swanlike pure devotees rapt in meditation became like flowing rivers of hot tears of anguish and cold tears of transcendental joy.

Text 52

When the colorful bird of the sound of Krsna's flute flew into the sky in Vrndavana forest, Brahma, Siva, Indra, Narada and all the demigods became struck with ownder, the hills began to flow like rivers, the rivers stood like immovable hills, and all the girls of Vraja became plunged in the river of transcendental unrest.

Text 53

The demigods offered respectful obeisances to Lord Krsna, who plunged the Arista demon into a flood of pain, who led the Kesi demon to his death and who made the Vyoma demon enter the great sky of the impersonal void.

Text 54

Then Lord Krsna went to MAthura, where He killed Kamsa and removed the sufferings of His parents. After installing Ugrasena as king of the Yadu lands, the Lord immediately went to Dvaraka.

Text 55

Lord Krsna killed the demoniac sons of Dhrtarastra, the king of teh Kurus, and installed Yudhisthira, the son of Yamaraja, as emperor of the entire earth. After killing a great host of demons, Lord Krsna returned to Vraja, where for two months he fulfilled everyone's desires.

Seventh Shower
Lord Krsna's Return to Gokula and His Later Pastimes

Text 1

When Uddhava and other messengers begged that He returm to Gokula, Lord Krsna assented to their request. When the Lord returned, melodious sounds of dundubhi drums thundered, asupicious shouts of joy arose in every home, and the forests of Vrndavana showered a great monsoon of nectar.

Text 2

When the moon of Lord Krsna arose, the land of Vraja became like an ocean filled with waves of transcendental bliss.

Text 3

When Lord Krsna arrived, the forest of Vrndavan suddenly blossomed into spring.

Text 4

The splendid kadamba trees suddenly burst into bloom. Tears flowing on to their chests, all the people of Vraja embraced Lord Krsna with intense feelings of love and bliss.

Text 5

Many sannyasi sages and ascetic householders came there to see Lord Krsna. The Lord worshiped them with great reverence and they spoke many prayers glorifying the Lord with great love and devotion.

Text 6

They said: "O Lord, You are the master of everyone. You are the giver of ultimate liberation. You give Yourself to Your devotees. You are full of love for your devotees. Your transcennetal form is the abode of all knowledge and bliss. You are the resting place of Srivatsa and Laksmi."

Text 7

"O Lord you are splendidly decoarted with the Kaustabha jewel. You are the only cause of the birth, maintenance, and destruction of all universes. You are the master of all inconceivable potencies. You are teh origin of the purusa-avataras. Brahma and all teh demigods are Your servants."

Text 8

"O Govinda, O son of Nanda, O killer of Kamsa and his friends, O husband of the goddess of fortune, please purify us. O glorious king of Gokula who is always surrounded by great devotees, all glories to You."

Text 9

"O infallible Lord as splendid as a dark monsoon cloud, Your devotional service creates intense transcendental bliss. O jewel of all generous and charitable persons, please give this nine-fold devorional service to us. We think that no blessing is better than this."

Text 10

Riding on splendid palnaquins, chariots, and horses, Lord Krsna and His friends went to the forests of Vrndavana. There He enjoyed with them the nectar of transcendental pastimes. There He was worshipped by the supreme goddess of fortune.

Text 11

With His friends who are like Him in good quality, handsome form, and transcendental opulence, He enjoyed many wonderful pastimes as He herded the cows on Govardhana Hill and in the forests of Vraja.

Text 12

Eager to enjoy the ultimate transcendental pleasure, He entered at night deep within the forest of Vrndavana, adn there, even though He is the natural blissful Supreme Personlaity of Godhead, He enjoyed the unlimitedly beautiful girls of Vraja.

Text 13

These eternal and blissful transcendental pastimes of the Supreme Lord, Visnu, the son of Mahraja Nanda, whichi have been related to us by the faithful pure devotees , completely extinguish the blazing fire of repeated birth and death in the confines of thematerial world.

Text 14

Originally spoken by the sage Srila Sukadeva Goswami in the assembly of great devotees, these transcendental and blissful pastimes of Lord Krsna have now been repeated by Baladeva Vidyabhusana. These pastimes should be worshiped in the same way the transcendental form of the Lord is worshiped and served.

Text 15

By the mercy of Sri Krsnadeva Sarvabhauma Prabhu this monsoon of the transcendental opulences of the Lord has now risen to relieve the sufferings of the saintly devotees whose lotus hearts have become dry, wilted, and lusterless, scorched by thepainful heat of the inability to hear the glorification of the transcendental opulences of Lord Krsna, the moon of Vraja.

Text 16

The unprecedented, blissful, and festive monsoon of the opulences of Lord Krsna, the son of Nanda, that precedes this verse has appeared in this world in 1701 of the Saka era (AD 1779). May this monsoon become dear to the saintly devotees who have taken shelter of Lord Krsna's lotus feet.

Kushakratha Prabhu's poetry on Vrindavana

Dedication

To my spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabupada, this translation
of Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati's Sri Vrndavana-mahimamrta is
respectfully dedicated.

Text 1

I offer my respectful obeisances to a certain wonderfully glorious person splendid as glistening gold who, without any reservation, gave to all, even to the dogeaters, pure transcendental devotional service, which is filled with many kinds of nectar.

Text 2

The hearts of the great souls cannot enter it. What do the Vedas say about it? The Lord described it only indirectly to the devoted Uddhava. Who, except for they who have taken the shelter of Lord Gaura, can understand Vrndavana, where the nectar divine couple eternally enjoy wildly passionate transcendental pastimes?

Text 3

Lord Gaura, by whose mercy, even though I have no good qualities, even though I am the lowest of all creatures, and even though my wicked heart is filled with faults, I have been able to understand Sri Radha, Sri Krsna (the son of Vraja's king), and Sri Vrndavana, is the goal of my life.

Text 4

May the wonderful, charming, fair and dark hero and heroine who are the greatest wonders of transcendental beauty, splendour, youthfulness, expert intelligence, and all other virtues, who are the splendid abode of playfulness, who are each others life and soul, and who, plunged in the wild and splendid nectar of Their love, enjoy pastimes in Vrndavana, shine in my heart.

Text 5

May my heart plunge in the wonderfully sweet, shoreless, nectar ocean of Sri Vrndavana's glories, the path to which is difficult for all the Vedas to find and the slightest scent of which cannot be found by wandering the universe.

Text 6

Glories, glories to the Vrndavana forest, which is the peerless nectar of the ocean of transcendental bliss and which is filled with the wonderful opulences of many birds, deer, trees, vines, forest-groves, lakes, ponds, shores, hills, and streams that cannot be properly described by millions of Sarasvatis!

Text 7

O feet, please walk in Vrndavana. O eyes, please gaze at Vrndavana's beauty. O tongue, please praise Vrndavana's glories. O ears, please hear them. O nose, please smell Vrndavana's sweet fragrance. O body, with your hairs erect in ecstasy, please roll about on the ground in the places where Lord Krsna enjoyed transcendental pastimes in Vrndavana.

Text 8

Flooded by the great, splendid, sweet, wild ocean of transcendental love, filled with the bliss of the very sweet transcendental pastimes of Lord Radhikaramana, and sweetly created by Vrndadevi, who is worshipped by all the worlds, may Lord Hari's splendid transcendental abode, Sri Vrndavana, shine in my heart.

Text 9

I pray that birth after birth I may be a clump of grass in the land of Vrndavana, which is worshipped even by the king of the demigods. That would be my joy.

Text 10

Let me glorify Radha's forest where, although all his desires were fulfilled by tasting the nectar of massaging Lord Hari's lotus feet, Uddhava yearned to become a blade of grass.

Text 11

They who worship Lord Radhavallabha's flower petal feet, who follow religious principles their entire lives, who always serve the dust of the Vaisnavas' feet, who embrace the highest renunciation, and whose hearts are plunged in the nectar of the highest love, find Sri Radha's merciful glance on them in Vrndavana.

Text 12

Gazing at Their pastime-abode of Vrndavana, Sri Sri Radha-Nandakisora become plunged in the shoreless ocean of nectar. They become full of bliss.

Text 13

Will I find Vrndavana, where with pure devotion sweet with the splendid nectar of intense bliss one may worship the splendid and wonderful fair and dark playful divine couple that shines like moonlight in the mirror of the heart?

Text 14

In the sweet nectar ocean of pure undivided love, on an island of intense nectar, the splendour of Vrndavan rises. There, tossed by pure love for each other, the sweet divine couple enjoys transcendental pastimes day and night. One who stays there enters a condition of life that is full of nectar.

Text 15

I do not know whether I shall be able to meditate on Lord Madhava's two lotus feet. Am I qualified to follow the path of Sri Sukadeva Goswami, Sri Narada Muni, and the other great saints? Still, whether I meet good or ill, the beautiful forest where Srimati Radha enjoys transcendental pastimes is my life and soul.

Text 16

I offer my respectful obeisances to Lord Radhapati's sweet abode named Vrndavana. Its boundary the Vedas cannot touch. It is a secret festival of the greatest transcendental bliss. Siva, Brahma, and the other demigods do not know even a single drop of its nectar.

Text 17

When, wandering and wandering in the circle of Vrndavan forest, and remembering and remembering the wonderful, dear divine couple splendid as gold and sapphires, will I forget all the dualities of this world?

Text 18

If my body is torn to pieces, or if hosts of terrible calamities fall on me, Oh! Oh! Oh! Still I will never thirst to leave Vrndavana and go to those other, insignificant places.

Text 19

When, hungrily eating naturally fallen leaves as if they were ambrosia, thirstily drinking handfuls of the Yamuna's pure water, and my heart plunged in nectar as I gaze at the place where sweet Lord Radhikaramana enjoyed the pastimes of the rasa dance, will I reside in Vrndavana?

Text 20

Vrndavana, which is paved with many kinds of colourful, gently splendid jewels, filled with very wonderful flowering trees and vines and with wonderful sounds of many kinds of wonderful birds, deer, and other creatures, and which is the place of pastimes for Nanda Maharaja's son, is my life and soul.

Text 21
Sweeter than the nectar of service to Lord Purusottama's feet in Mathura, a flood of invisible nectar flows in Vrndavana from Radha's beloved. Of this Uddhava is the witness.

Text 22

Accompanied by the tumult of dundubhi drums, the Puranas declare: "Radha stays in Vrndavana forest." If you leave Vrndavana which is the courtyard of She who is the form of the greatest love, where you will see Lord Hari?

Text 23

I pray that my body, which is always dark with Vrndavana's dust, many never go to any other place, even if in that place millions of cintamani jewels are assembled , and even if in that place I may see Lord Hari before my eyes.

Text 24

May Vrndavana's queen, shedding tears of great mercy, be kind to me. May the desire-vine of Her mercy bear fruit. May I live in Her favourite garden.

Text 25

One who is firmly determined to stay in Vrndavan until the end of his body has already performed all kinds of devotional service. The greatest and most wonderful of all goals of life rests in his hand. His feet are on everyone's head. Brahma and the demigods bow down before him.

Text 26

When, walking along the Yamuna's shores and under the trees, will I pass my days in Vrndavana, the root from which the wonderful happiness of transcendental love grows.

Text 27

Let me praise the forest where the fair and dark divine couple, famous by the name Sri Sri Radha-Madhava, enjoy transcendental amorous pastimes.

Text 28

Offer your respectful obeisances to peaceful Vrndavana which, by giving them the sweet nectar of wild spiritual love, delights its birds, beasts, trees and vines.

Text 29

Inconceivably glorious Vrndavana makes even the lowest person, who devotedly follows the wrong paths and who is a desert barren of devotion for Lord Hari, mad with spiritual love.

Text 30

A devotee may be proud to become successful by practising pure devotional service in some other place. We do not think he is successful. We shall only take shelter of Vrndavana, which is very dear to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava.

Text 31

Now that I, who am a reservoir of faults, who have not the slightest virtue, and who am the lowest of all but who still hankers for what is very difficult to attain, have come to Vrndavana forest, the seed from which the most splendid devotional service grows, will I become successful?

Text 32

Sri Vrndavana, where the name "Radha", the sweetest part of the shoreless nectar ocean of pure and splendid divine love, shines, is the only goal of my life.

Text 33

One who never performs any spiritual activities, but who has wholeheartedly taken shelter of Vrndavana, will attain the greatest festival of the nectar of pure love for Sri Radha's beloved.

Text 34

My own people may leave me. My body may collapse. Still, I will not take a single step beyond the border of Vrndavana.

Text 35

She is not my mother, he is not my father, he is not my relative, he is not my friend, he is not my well-wisher, and he is not my guru, who does not order me to reside in Vrndavana.

Text 36

May those scriptures where the glories of Vrndavan are not heard never, even in dreams, enter my ears. May those wretched persons who do not rejoice to hear Vrndavana's glories never converse with me and never enter the pathway of my eyes.

Text 37

Enough! Enough with the happiness of staying among women she-asses! Enough! Enough with wealth, children, scholarship, and fame! Enough! Enough with the troubles of many kinds of spiritual practise! Take shelter of Vrndavana forest and become fortunate!

Text 38

Millions on millions of Vaikunthas cannot become like a tiny particle of dust in auspicious , opulent Vrndavana, which shines with the splendour of pure love. They who serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead in millions of ways, but are not devoted to Sri Radha, cannot understand Vrndavana. Let me glorify Sri Vrndavana.

Text 39

Somehow entering the pathway of my ears the word "Vrnda" may suddenly bring me to the forest where Sri Sri Radha-Madhava enjoy sublimely sweet transcendental amorous pastimes and make me faint in the ecstasy of love. Will this be?

Text 40

When, as I wander Vrndavana's pathways, will I, suddenly seeing the wonderful fair and dark youthful divine couple that are each other's life and soul, suddenly fall unconscious?

Text 41

For sinful me what is as auspicious as staying in the land of Vrndavana until this body ends? Will I then touch the flood of splendour flowing from the feet of the beautiful divine couple that enjoys newer and newer transcendental pastimes?

Text 42

When, manifesting a spiritual body, will I reside in Vrndavana forest where all the moving and stationary living entities eternally shine with the splendour of intensely blissful spiritual forms and which they whose eyes are blinded by maya misunderstand with a host of faulty ideas?

Text 43

Take shelter of Vrndavana where, unseen by the unintelligent, all living entities and even all things are blissful, eternal, spiritual, and full of knowledge.

Text 44

They who attribute faults to the blissful moving and stationary living entities in Vrndavana are offenders. How can they attain Sri Sri Radha-Madhava?

Text 45

They who relish blaspheming Vrndavana's residents, they who will not glorify Vrndavan, and the fools who somehow think Vrndavana like other places, cannot attain eternal, blissful spiritual forms in Vrndavana. I pray that even in dreams I may never come near those sinful people, the lowest of men.

Text 46

Even if they speak many intolerable insults, even if they kidnap my wife, even if they kill my dear children and relatives, even if they plunder my wealth, and even if they take my own life, the residents of Vrndavan will remain always dear to me. I will worship them always.

Text 47

He who always torments others, is attached to others wives, harms everyone in many ways, acts sinfully, is blinded by greed and a host of vices, and stays in Vrndavana, is a glorious rising sun. O brother, do not become an owl blind to the sunlight and find faults in him.

Text 48

He who, rejecting others' wealth, others' wives, hatred, envy, greed, dishonesty, cruelty, violence, and lying words, becomes devoted to the Lord of Sri Radhika's life, will not become frustrated in his desire to stay in Vrndavana.

Text 49

Do everything that opposes religious principles, reject all religious duties, and abandon your guru in order to reside in Vrndavana. That is your supreme religious duty. That is devotion to your guru. Your sins are whatever stops you from residing in Vrndavana.

Text 50

When his body ends, he who has seen Sri Sri Radha-Krsna, who are filled with wonderful, limitless mercy, will attain perfection.

Text 51

"Even a person who, defeated by his senses, has fled the nectar flood of devotional service for Sri Sri Radha-Madhupati's lotus feet, can take shelter of Vrndavana by My mercy."

Text 52

He commits a great offence who becomes the enemy of the devotees who, intoxicated by the pollen of Sri Sri Radha-Madhava's lotus feet, reside in Their dear pastime-forest. Still by residing in Vrndavana until the moment of his death, even this offender will become free from all sins and supremely pure.

Text 53

Fools, the paths of the world and the Vedas will bring you trouble only! Give up everything and make yourself a leaf-hut in Vrndavana forest!

Text 54

The Vedas may jump and dance as they like, the people may think whatever they like, and the unintelligent logicians may establish whatever theories they like, but our heart will never leave the pastime-forest of Sri Radha, whose splendid form is filled with the sweet nectar of pure, wildly passionate transcendental love.

Text 55

The great treasure of our lives is Srila Vrndavana, which is the most exalted of all spiritual abodes and is the place where , one splendidly dark and handsome and the other fair as soft molten gold, two youthful splendours tossed by the nectar of love eternally enjoy transcendental amorous pastimes.

Text 56

Bowing down again and again and begging with many plaintive words, to the shoreless ocean of mercy that is the hero of Vraja’s playful girls I pray: In one birth allow me to find my happiness in Vrndavana which is a shoreless ocean of passionate transcendental love.

Text 57

I praise sweet Vrndavana, where a dabbler who walks down many paths at once, a fool, one who has rejected his proper religious duty, an independent person who will not follow the rules of the Scriptures, a person who has not the slightest scent of the touch of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and who lives there only out of lust and greed, all attain the supreme destination.

Text 58

A bewildered fool cannot understand Vrndavana, which is hidden from all the Vedas, and which is the place where one may attain the ultimate happiness of devotional service, the highest of all happiness in this world.

Text 59

To demi-god worshippers, to those rapt in the imperishable impersonal Brahman, and even to animallike persons intent only on enjoying their senses, by its inconceivable powers Vrndavan gives the rare and secret nectar of love for Sri Sri Radha-Madhava.

Text 60

When, taking shelter of Srimati Radharani’s feet, will I see Sri Vrndavana’s wonderful form, a millionth part of which the Vedas cannot touch, the yogis cannot understand, the great souls headed by Laksmi, Siva, Brahma, Sukadeva, Arjuna, and Uddhava cannot see and, what to speak of others, even the Vrajavasis cannot see?

Text 61

O friend, please forget the non-dual Brahman and instead, in Sri Vrndavana, the very splendid peerlessly sweet ocean of nectar in the splendid ocean of transcendental love, accept the splendid form of a delicate gopi expert in all fine arts, and worship the sweet flatterer of Sri Radhika, the ocean of nectar who is your life and soul.

Text 62

O Krsna, O Lord who enjoys pastime with Sri Radha in Vrndavana, please forcibly drag my heart, now tightly bound with a hundred ropes of wicked desires, to Your lotus feet.

Text 63

I cannot subdue my senses at all. I have no virtues. A host of faults always enters me. Where shall I go? What shall I do? Alas! Alas! No mercy is shown to me! O Sri Vrndavana, please give me residence within you, my only home.

Text 64

My noble birth, wealth, and even my life-breath, may all perish. My good reputation may wither and die. My religious principles may run to destruction. Everyone may always mistreat me. My body may wither away with hundreds of incurable diseases. Still, my heart will never leave Vrndavana.

Text 65

I praise a certain forest named Vrndavana that protects (avana) the multitude (vrnda) of all sinful living entities from the fearful condition of repeated birth and death.

Text 66

I bow down to offer my respects to they who know that within or without the material world there is nothing as sweet as Vrndavana.

Text 67

All glories to Vrndavan which , just as Sri Radha, is splendid with tilaka decorations, is clothed in garments dark as the Yamuna waters, is splendid with the glory of blossoming champaka flowers, is glorious with many kinds of nectar, is charming with the sweet nectar of pure love for Lord Krsna, and is very dear to Lord Gopendratmaja!

Text 68

Who will not take shelter of wonderful, blissful Vrndavana, where millions of kalpavrksa trees are embraced by the sweet vines of pure bhakti that are their wives, and where the rocks of the hill accounted the best of Lord Hari’s servants form a bed for the Lord’s nap.

Text 69

As much as they do not love Vrndavana, the root from which the Lord’s pastimes of love sprout, to that extent the fools are not able to find the great secret of spontaneous transcendental love for Lord Govinda’s lotus feet.

Text 70

Again and again remembering the person dark as a new monsoon cloud who is embraced by Sri Radha, Her transcendental form like a vine splendid as millions of lightning flashes, a certain saintly devotee, very sweetly effulgent, and pure devotional love rising within him, wanders in Vrndavana.

Text 71

When, at every moment shedding tears of deep love, and the hairs of my body erect with joy, will I roll upon the ground in the places decorated with Radha's footprints in Vrndavana?

Text 72

They find the great secret of pure devotional service who take shelter of Vrndavana forest, where Sri Radha, Her transcendental form filled with the nectar of splendid divine love, gloriously plays with Lord Hari.

Text 73

Renounce everything and, maintaining your body by drinking a little water, reside in Vrndavana, which is filled with the sweet nectar of pure transcendental love, and which is charming with many wonderful trees, vines, bushes, and with bees and parrots intoxicated by singing the splendid glories of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna.

Text 74

Let me praise Vrndavana, which is flooded with the splendour of Radha’s beautiful golden limbs, the nectar of the splendour of Her pure love, and the blissful monsoon of the splendour of Lord Govinda’s handsome form dark as a host of clouds.

Text 75

There may be insults or praises, many calamities or great good fortune, great learning or illiteracy, happiness or pain, but Vrndavana, which is my life and soul, and the glory of which even the Vedas cannot find, I will never, even in a dream, leave.

Text 76

If the people speak unbearable insults to me as if I were a candala or a dog or an ass, then I do not feel unhappy, and if the demigods, demigoddesses, saints, and life itself praise me with great affection, then I, who thirst for the nectar of Vrndavana, do not feel happy.

Text 77

O brother, give up all your spiritual practices and take shelter of Vrndavana. As you desire so your body, words, and heart will act.

Text 78

O Lord, may I be filled with the kind of desire that makes me attached to a certain doe-eyed girl so I will never leave Vrndavana. May the kind of pride and arrogance rise within me that makes me delight to always live in this sweet forest.

Text 79

With a bowl in hand we go begging even on the paths to the houses of dogeaters in Vrndavana. We pray, that meeting here our past pious deeds, we will never take this body to any other place.

Text 80

When, wearing a kaupina and one old cloth, day and night singing of the waves of Sri Sri Radha-Madhupati’s confidential pastimes, and at the end of the day eating a fruit or a root, will I spend this lifetime in the land of Vrndavana.

Text 81

Above the material nature, in the ocean of happiness that is the Supreme Brahman splendour, is the Supreme Abode glorified in the Vedas and named Vaikuntha. Within Vaikuntha the circle of Mathura is glorious with all splendour. There gaze, O friend, on the forest of Vrndavana.

Text 82

When will my ears, tongue, touch, eyes, nose and other senses plunge me in the flowing streams of nectar? When, blinded with intoxication by tasting this uncommon nectar, will I sweetly and very loudly sing Lord Madhupati’s glories everywhere?

Text 83

Even though staying in Vrndavana himself, he who commits the offence of thinking that the residents of Vrndavana do not have spiritual forms of eternity, bliss, and knowledge, will not attain the supreme abode.

Text 84

When one understands that the moving and unmoving residents of Vrndavan have forms of eternal spiritual nectar, then he becomes a genuine servant of Sri Radha’s beloved.

Text 85

Wandering in Vrndavana is the best of all opulences, the best of all religious principles, the best of all kinds of worship, the best of all perfections, the best of all glories, and the best of all oceans of sweetness.

Text 86

The proclamation of my fate and the statements of the spiritual masters, may both forbid me, and the words of they who know the scriptures may rise a great outcry, still, not considering what can or should be done, my heart clings to the treasure of residing in Srimati Radhika’s pastime forest and it will not move in the slightest.

Text 87

When singing, dancing, laughing, rolling about on the ground, running, crying, or falling down unconscious, will I become blind with intoxication by drinking the great nectar of spiritual love, and oblivious to the world, wander in Vrndavana?

Text 88

When, oblivious to the world, religious duties, home, body, insults, praise, pleasure, and pain, and intoxicated with the nectar of pure spiritual love, will I become like a madman in Vrndavana?

Text 89

When chanting the siddha-mantra of very wonderful names beginning “Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna!‘ come from the mouth of Lord Caitanyadeva, who is compassion personified, will I become perfect in Vrndavana?

Text 90

I meditate on wonderful Vrndavana splendid with gold, crystal, and rubies, with great sapphire trees, with courtyards made of many kinds of jewels, with buzzing bees, with blossoming vines, with wonderful parrots, peacocks, cuckoos, and other birds, and with lakes filled with lotuses and other flowers.

Text 91

Please meditate on Vrndavana, which is beautiful with many forest-cottages where gopis stand by the door and gaze at their two friends enjoying betelnuts, nectar drinks, candies, jasmine flowers, and many other pleasures on a beautiful couch of splendid and soft leaves and flowers.

Text 92

Please always meditate on Vrndavana, which is very beautiful with new forest-groves where in some places are couches of flowers crushed by amorous pastimes, in some places are beautiful pastimes, and in some places are great festivals inaugurated by wildly passionate Sri Sri Radhika-Madhupati.

Text 93

When, wandering day and night through the valleys that are Radha-Krsna’s intimate friends, on the
valleys that are pathways through Their various pastime forest-groves, through groves of newly-blossoming kadamba trees, and through the beautiful places where They enjoyed the pastime of the rasa-dance, will I become fortunate, intimate love for them shining within me?

Text 94

What is the use of a beautiful young wife, children, and wealth, which give only temporary happiness? I offer my respectful obeisances to the beauty of Vaikuntha. I pray that birth after birth I may be devoted to the forest where Vrajendra’s son and Vrsabhanu’s daughter enjoy splendid transcendental pastimes.

Text 95

With my head I bow down before Vrndavana. With my words I speak about Vrndavana. I do not know anything but Vrndavana.

Text 96

Vrndavana, where Sri Radha's beloved enjoys pastimes, is my life. I hope to attain Lord Krsna’s lotus feet in Vrndavana.

Text 97

O mind, please meditate on Vrndavana, where the parrots sing about the pastimes of Lord Krsna, the master of Radha, where the trees and vines blossom eternally only to please Him, and where the lotuses and other flowers, and the lakes are beautiful to bring Him a great festival of happiness.

Text 98

O my beloved, when will I meditate on You in Vrndavana, which is filled with many pastime forests, beautiful with many lakes and ponds, graceful with many trees, vines, bushes, and many kinds of birds and animals, and which is the abode of many transcendental pastimes and splendid with many jewels?

Text 99

Let my thoughts always stay in purifying Vrndavana, where, intoxicated by tasting the sweetest nectar, my dearest divine couple enjoy pastimes, where filled with a great festival of transcendental sweetness, pure devotional service is manifested, and where the words of Vedas and Upanisads cannot enter.

Text 100

When, tears flowing from my eyes as I stutter the holy names of Lord Krsna, will I muddy the ground under a tree? When, seeing in my heart the two splendours glorious like gold and sapphires, will I, overwhelmed, bow down to offer my respectful obeisances?

Text 101

When residing on the border of Vrndavana forest and overcome with love as I engage in meditation, will I suddenly see the youthful divine couple that is my life’s only treasure? When will I see those two splendours, one dark and the other fair like a golden moon? When will I hear the sweet nectar of the words They speak to each other?

Text 102

When, entering a part of Vrndavana where no one else may enter, loudly calling out the names of the two who are very dear to me, weeping, and very agitated., will I meet one of my queen’s splendid and doe-eyed maidservants, who will console me with nectar words?

Text 103

May merciful Vrndavan anoint my eyes with the sweet nectar of deep love for the glorious feet of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. Ah! For how many days have those feet been my shelter? May those feet, which are the great wonder of Vrndavan forest, flood my heart with the nectar of their sweetness.

Text 104

When, rapt in meditation, and in trance seeing my own original spiritual form, will I be bewildered, unaware whether a moment or three hours have just passed in beautiful Vrndavana?

Text 105

I will not speak, hear, or think of anything else. I will not speak, worship, or take shelter of anything else. Either awake or in a dream, I do not see anything but the forest where Sri Radha enjoys pastimes.

Text 106

“Why do You trouble Me? Leave Me alone!”
“Come. Happily sleep on this bed.”
“Take Your arms off Me! Take them off!”
“Beloved, I will embrace You just once.”
“Merciless beast! Leave Me alone! Leave Me alone. I do not trouble You.”

When, in Vrndavana forest, will I hear a parrot repeat these words of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna?

Text 107

When, as I wonder alone in the many forests of Vrndavana, and I enter a wonderfully auspicious forest I had never seen before, will an extraordinarily charming youth suddenly appear before and say, “Please do not leave this place?”

Text 108

When, in the transcendental abode of Vrndavan, will I, awake, silent, inactive, and sighing, gaze for a moment on the sweet divine couple, who are more dear to me than life?

Text 109

Even leaving this new and beautiful forest grove, may I smile to suddenly see the youthful divine couple, who appear like ordinary human beings. Even if I go far away, may I still be overwhelmed with love in this land of Vrndavana as I gaze on the dear divine couple.

Text 110

When, remembering the pastimes of Vrndavana’s master as I wander around the rasa-dance circle bright in the full moon’s light, will I suddenly hear a splendid and nectarine flute-sound, a sound filled with waves of bliss?

Text 111

When will I see the gopis’ master smiling under a kadamba tree? When will I see the restless hand of Sri Radha as She picks flowers somewhere in vine-filled Vrndavan forest?

Text 112

Will I someday see the divine couple, splendid like sapphires and molten gold and Their arms on each other’s shoulders? Will the sight of the splendid, happy, and filled with love divine couple make me faint with joy?

Text 113

Overcome with the longings of spiritual love, my body rolls about on the ground. Touching me with Their hands, Radha and Her beloved make me roll about. Ah! Is there any impossible desire I may have that will not be obtained in the most wonderful and glorious Vrndavana forest?

Text 114

When in a happy dream will I see the very sweet and graceful dear divine couple tightly embracing as They sleep in a forest of vines near the Yamuna’s shore?

Text 115

When, flooding me with mercy merely because I spoke of making my home there, will Vrndavan forest, with the power of its own most wonderful and limitless glory, fulfil the impossible desires most lowly I have held for a hundred million births?

Text 116

O Lord, again and again the soul is tossed helplessly by his own past karma. I am like that. My heart is tortured by the sufferings of the material world. I simply pray that my tongue may always, without ever becoming tired, chant the word “Vrndavana.”

Text 117

My heart does not yearn to become the demigod Brahma in the Brahmaloka planet. Neither does it seek to become a personal associate of Lord Visnu in the planet of Visnuloka. It only seeks to become, for many, many births, a worm or an insect in the homes of those fortunate souls who celebrate a nectar festival of living in beautiful Vrndavana.

Text 118

May I be born in a home where the breeze carries the scent of flowers in Vrndavana, or in a home where the people bow their heads when they hear the word “Vrndavana.”

Text 119

Will the day come when I will touch Vrndavana? I will know that I have become fortunate when from afar I see persons who live in Vrndavana. Then I will fall again and again to the ground to offer my respectful obeisances to them.

Text 120

Although I have not the slightest scent of faith in the glories of Sri Vrndavana, and although I have no real desire to reside there, I still talk as if these things were true.

Text 121

The people who live in this world are mostly fools. Even if they have studied all the scriptures they generally have no knowledge of beautiful Vrndavana’s glories. Even philosophers who foolishly travel on the pathways of trying to separate the truth from lies become bewildered and cannot find the truth. That is why I serve the dust of Sri Vrndavana.

Text 122

Vrndavana! Forest filled with the sweetest nectar! Forest that contains the great treasure of spiritual love! Witness of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna's amorous pastimes! Forest so dear to me! Master of the rasa-dance! Enchanter of the worlds! Wonderful with flowering vines, birds, and a host of beautiful creatures! O beautiful Vrndavana far beyond the world of matter, you are the goal of my life. You are my goal.

Text 123

Obeisances to the beautiful couple that stays in Vrndavana. Obeisances to the beautiful couple that wanders in Vrndavana. Obeisances to the beautiful couple that is the life of Vrndavana. Obeisances to the hero and heroine of Vrndavana.

Text 124

Obeisances to the beautiful couple that is merciful to Vrndavana. Obeisances to the beautiful couple that is the transcendental nectar of Vrndavana. Obeisances to the beautiful couple that is the perfection of Vrndavana.

Text 125

No place is more exalted than Vrndavana forest. No person is more lowly than me. It is only by the power of Sri Radha’s holy name that these two may met.

Text 126

May the all-wonderful, limitlessly powerful, and supremely auspicious holy name of Vrndavana’s queen once be glorious in my mouth.

Srila Prabhupada's quotes on Vrindavana

posted Jun 11, 2009 2:53 PM by Vrindavana Dasa

Founder-acarya of ISKCON, His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, was empowered to broadcast the glories to Sri Vrndavana around the world. It was also his kindness that he did so. Srila Prabhupada was himself a Vrajavasi or resident of the holy land, having lived for eleven years in Vrndavana while he translated Srimad-Bhagavatam. At that time, he would write in Vrndavana, then travel to New Dehli to oversee the printing of his books.

Later, in order to fulfill his spiritual master's order that he preach in the West, Srila Prabhupada accepted passage on a freighter, and with Vrndavana in his heart, he came to America to share that transcendental abode with the world.

Srila Prabhupada spent his time glorifying the holy dhama and its essence, pure devotional service to Lord Krsna. He was always , enthusiastic to see people go to Vrndavana on pilgrimage. What follows are some of his words about Vrndavana-dhama taken from his books, private correspondence, recorded conversations, and lectures.
From the Bhaktivedanta Purports:

"Akrura's journey to Vrindavana is exemplary. One who intends to visit Vrindavana should follow in the ideal footsteps of Akrura and always think of the pastimes and activities of the Lord. As soon as one reaches the boundary of Vrindavana, he should immediately smear the dust of Vrindavana over his body without thinking of his material position and prestige. Actually one cannot go to Vrindavana by purchasing a ticket. The process of going to Vrindavana is shown by Akrura." (Krishna, Chapter 38)

"The dust of Govinda's lotus feet is so sacred that even Brahma, Siva, and the goddess of fortune Rama take the dust on their heads to dispel sinful reactions." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.30.29)

"The dust of Krishna's lotus feet, which is the source of holiness for all places of pilgrimage, is worshiped by all the great demigods. The principal deities of all planets are engaged in His service, and they consider themselves most fortunate to take the dust of the lotus feet of Krishna on their crowns." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.68.37)
From Letters

to S. dasa 5/15/70

"Krsna's lila in Vrndavana is prakata or manifest lila, and the same is going on eternally in the spiritual realm, which is known as aprakata or nonmanifest. Actually, Krsna's planet and Krsna's pastimes are going on eternally, and the same is manifested before the conditioned souls at certain intervals--that is to say, once in a day of Brahma, exactly as the sun is visible for twelve hours once in a twenty-four-hour cycle of day and night.

"When the sun is visible it is called prakata, and when the sun is not visible that is called aprakata or unmanifested. Nonmanifested therefore does not mean there is no existence, but the terms are used in relation to the visibility or nonvisibility to the limited conditioned souls.

"Krsna, by His causeless mercy, manifests Himself along with His form, name, qualities, entourage, and pastimes in order to attract the conditioned souls to the eternal blissful life of knowledge. Thus by understanding Krsna in His manifest lila one is attracted to His eternal lila, and that is the highest success of life, which is explained in the latter part of the verse: yam prapya na nivartante, tat dhama paramam mama--'Going, no one ever returns from My Supreme Abode.'

to G. Swami 11/18/76

"Our business is to glorify Krsna as the Lord of Vrndavana and to popularize Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's Hare Krsna movement. I was a resident in Vrndavana, but at the age of seventy I tried to preach Krsna consciousness a little and now this Institution has come out. So I think it is more profitable to preach about the Master of Vrndavana, Krsna, outside Vrndavana.

"A devotee of Krsna can create Vrndavana everywhere by preaching the glories of Krsna. There are many sahajiyas who imitate Rupa Goswami not to go out of Vrndavana, but Caitanya Mahaprabhu remained always outside Vrndavana for preaching purposes, although He is personally the master of Vrndavana. I have no objection to your coming to Vrndavana, but as you have accepted the sannyasa order, it is more important to preach about Vrndavana rather than to come to Vrndavana.

"I am getting older and older and it is getting difficult for me. Therefore I am requesting all my younger disciples to preach all over the world. Otherwise, you are always welcome in Vrndavana. I have no objection."
From Lectures

From a spoken introduction to the Gitopansad:

"The Lord descends on this mortal world to show His pastimes in Vrndavana, which are full of happiness. When Lord Sri Krishna was in Vrndavana, His activities with His cowherd boyfriends, with His damsels, with His friends, damsel friends, and with the inhabitants of Vrndavana, and His occupation of cowherding in His childhood--all were full of happiness. The whole of Vrndavana, the whole population of Vrndavana, was after Him."

Back home, back to Vrindavana

In a second all the airplane shakes were gone.

As I was sitting on the narrow seat of Airindia airplane I was reading a book and a passage said that if you ardently desire to reside in Mathura, you’ll achieve it.

The glories of Vrindavana were all desplayed in that book and I was feeling moved, because I was going to that Vrindavana.

I was deeply meditating on the land, on Yamuna, on the devotees, on the greeting of “Radhe Radhe” I was missing so much.

And all at once, gone was the airplane, gone the stewards, gone the turbolences, gone my airsickness.
I was in Vrindavana in my mind and serving the holy dhama by doing parikrama. And one by one all the most beautiful places in the creation was materialized in my heart. And I saw Srila Prabhupada guiding his devotees in kirtana, and I saw the sweetest Radha-Syamasundara, and I saw Govardhana and Radhakunda-Syamakunda.

That book was saying, if you really want it, you’ll get residence in Vrindavana. So easy. And I wanted it. I was going there.

And a phrase echoed in my mind:
“It takes a heart hard as a stone to leave Vrindavana.”

If it was not stone-hearted, how could you leave it without breaking it?

When some time after I left Vrindavana, I remember that phrase and I realized that I had a heart hard like a stone.

Maybe a devotee should leave Vrindavana for preaching. This is what I felt Srila Prabhupada was telling me.
But I feel a devotee should preach with the heart full of pain having to preach so far from home. Transform the heart into Vrindavana, longing to go back home, back to Vrindavana. Don’t wish to reside anywhere else.

Srila Prabhupada in Vrindavana:
One is Madana, and Krsna enchants Madana. Krsna is so beautiful that Madana becomes enchanted by Krsna. And Radharani is so beautiful that Krsna becomes enchanted.

La bicicletta di Vrindavana

posted Jun 7, 2009 4:14 PM by Vrindavana Dasa

E allora iniziano i problemi coi rikshawalla.

krsna tadakrosad ananya-natha
govinda damodara madhaveti

Before the assembled Kurus and Pandavas, when Duhsasana caught her hair and clothing, Krsna (Draupadi), having no other Lord, cried out, " Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(2)
sri krsna visno madhu-kaitabhare

trayasva mam kesava lokanatha
govinda damodara madhaveti

O Lord Krsna, Visnu, enemy of the Madhu and Kaitabha demons; O Supreme Personality of Godhead, enemy of Mura, merciful upon the devotees; O Kesava, Lord of the worlds, Govinda, Damodara, Madhava, please deliver me.

(3)
vikretukama kila gopa-kanya
murari-padarpita-citta-vrttih
dadhyadikam mohavasad avocad
govinda damodara madhaveti

Though desiring to sell milk, dahi, butter, etc., the mind of a young gopi was so absorbed in the lotus feet of Krsna that instead of calling out "Milk for sale," she bewilderedly said, "Govinda!", Damodara!", and "Madhava!"

(4)
ulukhale sambhrta-tandulans ca
sanghattayantyo musalaih pramugdhah
gayanti gopyo janitanuraga
govinda damodara madhaveti

Their grinding-mortars full of grains, the gopis minds are overcome as they thresh with their pestles, singing "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(5)
kacit karambhoj a-pute nisannam
krida-sukam kimsuka-rakta-tundam
adhyapayam asa saroruhaksi
govinda damodara madhaveti

A lotus-eyed girl instructed the red-beaked pet parrot that was seated in the cup of her lotus hand; she said, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava . . ."

(6)
grhe grhe gopa-vadhu-samuhah
prati-ksanam pinjara-sarikanam
skhalad-giram vacayitum pravrtto
govinda damodara madhaveti

In each and every house, a bevy of gopa-women is engaged in making the caged parrots constantly utter with broken words, "Govinda," "Damodara," and Madhava."

(7)
paryyankikabhajam alam kumaram
prasvapayantyo 'khila-gopa-kanyah
jaguh prabandham svara-tala-bandham
govinda damodara madhaveti

With the little boy lying in the swing, all of the gopis used to expertly sing compositions set to musical notes and rhythm; they went, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava," while putting Him to rest.

(8)
ramanujam viksana-keli-lolam gopi grhitva nava-nita-golam
abalakam balakam ajuhava
govinda damodara madhaveti

The younger brother of Balarama, playing mischieviously, was dodging about her with restless eyes. Taking a ball of fresh butter to lure Him over, that gopi called Him: "O Govinda, Damodara, Madhava . . ."

(9)
vicitra-varnabharanabhirame-
-bhidhehi vaktrambuja-rajahamse
sada madiye rasane 'gra-range
govinda damodara madhaveti

O my tongue, since my mouth has become like a lotus by dint of the presence there of these eloquent, ornamental, delightful syllables, you are like the swan that plays there. As your foremost pleasure, always articulate the names, "Govinda," "Damodara," and "Madhava."

(10)
ankadhirudham sisu-gopa-gudham
stanam dhayantam kamalaika-kantam
sambodhayam asa muda yasoda
govinda damodara madhaveti

The one and only Lord of Laksmi, in the form of a little cowherd baby, sat on Mother Yasoda lap drinking her breast-milk. Merged in bliss, she addressed Him as "Govinda," "Damodara," and "Madhava."

(11)
kridantam antar-vrajam atmanam svam
samam vayasyaih pasu-pala-balaih
premna yasoda prajuhava krsnam
govinda damodara madhaveti

In Vraja-dhama, Krsna was playing with His playmates, the boys of His age who protected the animals. With great love, Mother Yasoda called out to her own son, "O Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(12)
yasodaya gadham ulukhalena
go-kantha-pasena nibadhyamanam
ruroda mandam navanita-bhoji
govinda damodara madhaveti

Being firmly tied to the grinding mortar with a cow's rope by Mother Yasoda, the plunderer of butter softly whimpered. "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava."

(13)
nijangane kankana-keli-lolam
gopi grhitva navanita-golam
amardayat pani-talena netre
govinda damodara madhaveti

In His own courtyard, Krsna was carelessly playing with a bracelet. A gopi took a ball of butter to Him, and shutting His eyes with her palm, she distracted Him, "O Govinda, Damodara, Madhava . . .(Guess what I have for you!)"

(14)
grhe grhe gopa-vadhu-kadambah
sarve militva samavaya-yoge
punyani namani pathanti nityam
govinda damodara madhaveti

In house after house, groups of gopis gather on various occasions, and together they always chant the transcendental names of Krsna--"Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava."

(15)
mandara-mule vadanabhiramam
bimbadhare purita-venu-nadam
go-gopa-gopi-jana-madhya-samstham
govinda damodara madhaveti

His face is pleasing, and the flute pursed at His lips is filled with divine sound. Amidst the cows, gopas, and gopis, He stands at the base of a coral tree. Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!

(16)
utthaya gopyo 'para-ratra-bhoge
smrtva yasoda-suta-bala-kelim
gayanti proccair dadhi-manthayantyo
govinda damodara madhaveti

Rising early during the brahma-muhurta, and remembering the childish activities of the son of Yasodadevi, the gopis loudly sing while churning butter--"Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(17)
jagdho 'tha datto navanita-pindo
grhe yasoda vicikitsayanti
uvaca satyam vada he murare
govinda damodara madhaveti

Having churned and then set aside a fresh lump of butter in the house, Mother Yasoda was now suspicious--it had been eaten. She said, "Murari! Govinda, Damodara, Madhava, now tell me the truth!"

(18)
abhyarcya geham yuvatih pravrddha-
-prema-pravaha dadhi nirmamantha
gayanti gopyo 'tha sakhi-sameta
govinda damodara madhaveti

Having finished the worship at home, a young gopi, like a strong current of love for Krsna, churns butter, and then joins all the gopis and their friends and they sing, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(19)
kvacit prabhate dadhi-purna-patre
niksipya mantham yuvati mukundam
alokya ganam vividham karoti
govinda damodara madhaveti

One time, early in the morning, just as a girl had put aside her churn in a pot full of butter--she saw Mukunda. She then began to sing songs in various ways, about Govinda, Damodara, and Madhava.

(20)
kridaparam bhojana-majjanartham
hitaisini stri tanujam yasoda
ajuhavat prema-pari-plutaksi
govinda damodara madhaveti

Without having bathed or eaten, Krsna was absorbed in play. Overwhelmed with affection, mother Yasoda, who thought only of her son's welfare, called out, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava! (Come, take your bath and eat something.)"

(21)
sukham sayanam nilaye ca visnum
devarsi-mukhya munayah prapannah
tenacyute tanmayatam vrajanti
govinda damodara madhaveti

Devarsi Narada and other munis are always surrendered to Lord Visnu, who happily rests upon His couch. They always chant the names of "Govinda," "Damodara," and "Madhava," and thus they attain spiritual forms similar to His.

(22)
vihaya nidram arunodaye ca
vidhaya krtyani ca vipramukhyah vedavasane prapathanti nityam
govinda damodara madhaveti

Rising at dawn, having performed their rituals and chanted Vedic hymns, the best of the learned brahmanas always loudly chant, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(23)
vrndavane gopa-ganas ca gopyo
vilokya govinda-viyoga-khinnam
radham jaguh sasru-vilocanabhyam
govinda damodara madhaveti

In Vrndavana, seeing Çri Radhika overwhelmed with separation from Govinda, groups of gopas and gopis sang, with tears in their lotus eyes, "Govinda! Damodara! O Madhava!"

(24)
prabhata-sancara-gata nu gavas
tad-raksanartham tanayam yasoda
prabodhayat pani-talena mandam
govinda damodara madhaveti

The cows having already gone out to graze early in the morning, mother Yasoda gently roused her sleeping son with the palm of her hand, softly saying, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava."

(25)
pravala-sobha iva dirgha-kesa
vatambu-parnasana-puta-dehah
mule tarunam munayah pathanti
govinda damodara madhaveti

With long, matted hair the color of coral, and bodies purified by eating only leaves, water, and air, the sages sit beneath the trees and chant, "Govinda," "Damodara," and "Madhava."

(26)
evam bruvana virahatura bhrsam
vraja-striyah krsna-visikta-manasah
visrjya lajjam ruruduh sma su-svaram
govinda damodara madhaveti

After speaking these words, the ladies of Vraja, who were so attached to Krsna, felt extremely agitated by their imminent separation from Him. They forgot all worldly shame and loudly cried out, 'O Govinda! O Damodara! O Madhava!'"

n.b.--(This verse is identical with Çrimad Bhagavatam, 10. 39.31; it describes the gopis' reaction to Akrura's taking Krsna and Balarama away from Vrndavana.)

(27)
gopi kadacin mani-pinjara-stham
sukam vaco vacayitum pravrtta
ananda-kanda vraja-candra krsna
govinda damodara madhaveti

Sometimes a gopi is engaged in teaching a parrot within a jeweled cage to recite names like: "Änanda-kanda" (source of bliss), "Vraja-candra", "Krsna," "Govinda," "Damodara," and "Madhava."

(28)
go-vatsa-balaih sisu-kaka-paksam
badhnantam ambhoja-dalayataksam
uvaca mata cibukam grhitva
govinda damodara madhaveti

The lotus-eyed Lord was tying the sikha of a cowherd boy to the tail of a calf when His mother caught Him, lifted up His chin, and said, "Govinda! Damodara! Madhava!"

(29)
prabhata-kale vara-vallavaugha
go-raksanartham dhrta-vetra-dandah
akarayam asur anantam adyam
govinda damodara madhaveti

In the early morning a group of His favorite cowherd boys arrived, stick-canes in hand, to take care of the cows. They addressed the unlimited, primeval Personality of Godhead, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

(30)
jalasaye kaliya-mardanaya
yada kadambad apatan murare

Without the mercy of Srimati Radhika, one can never attain Krsna. Therefore one must remember them together, as They are always nicely situated by each others' side. (Srila Dhyana-chandra Goswami's Paddhati)

Sri Krishna says: O Narada! I tell you truly truly, again truly, truly, again and again - without the mercy of Srimati Radharani, one cannot attain my mercy. (Narada Purana)
